Pom Pom Pandemonium

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

The pom pom trend is alive and well! I thought there was a bit of this trend happening last year, but I have seen pom poms popping up everywhere! Last year, I made a fun DIY Pom Pom Straw Tote that is perfect for the beach.  It seems this year, pom poms are migrating from bags to jeans, shoes and earrings! What's great about a lot of the items show above is that these would be easy DIYs as well. Take the jeans for example. You could spruce up an older pair of jeans by easily sewing colorful pom poms to the bottom of each leg. In under an hour, voilà! a brand new pair of jeans! Same goes for the shoes and basket. I was even thinking for the shoes and jeans, if you don't want the pom poms to be permanent, you could use Velcro as the adhesive and just take the pom pom detail off when you want a more classic look. How are you embracing the pom pom trend?

Patriotic Fruit Cake

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. I had a very relaxed few days. On Memorial Day, my dad hosted a little cookout. We had  burgers and Italian sausage. My dad made is crowd favorite taco salad, and we spent the day basking in the sun. When it comes to food events, I love making the desserts. Since we would be indulging in some heavier food items, I wanted something light and sweet. Angel Food Cake jumped to mind right away followed by fresh strawberries. I cut a few corners and picked up some store bough Angel Food Cake that was on sale at a local grocery store. With that step out of the way, this delicious and show stopping fruit cake only took about 20 minutes. This cake is not only super tasty, but perfect for Memorial Day and the 4th of July. It's quite a patriotic cake with it's bright red and blue berries.

Here's what you'll need:
-Angel Food Cake. Here is a simple recipe for the homemade version.
-2 small packages of fresh strawberries
-Handful of blueberries

DIY: French Style Gold Pendant

One of my favorite fashion and beauty writers and Instagram Story makers, Alina Gonzalez aka @thehyperbalist, wrote an article for Who What Wear on the latest French Girl Style, the gold pendant. I immediately decided I need one. I also knew I wanted to make my own.

I made my way to Hobby Lobby, where I not only found some simple gold pendants, but they were also on sale! I already had gold chain and the findings at home. Making this necklace took less than three minutes and now I have a handmade French-inspired necklace that I plan on never taking off.

I also made two other styles that I promptly added to my Etsy shop, Golden Soul Designs. I hope you check it out!

Loafin' Around

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

As the weather warms up I am always looking for the best slip on shoe option. I am not a huge fan of flip flops, so those are out. Flats are great, but sometimes I want to mix it up a bit. I've been seeing a lot of loafers. I loved these silver pair that are basically a neutral so they go with everything. I have been wearing mine with boyfriend jeans and t-shirts. For even easier access, I picked up these adorable bow slides that will also match with any outfit. What's your go to Spring shoe?

The 3 C's of the Straw Bag

Clutch: 1 / 2 / 3       Circular: 1 / 2 / 3      Crossbody: 1 / 2 / 3

Adorable little straw bags have been popping up all over my Instagram feed. These bags are the perfect summer accessory! In the warmer months, I often find myself reaching for a smaller bag especially when going to an event or a concert. I ended up purchasing this bag and I cannot wait to style it with all of my summer dresses. I also love the circular style straw bags, but I just haven't found the perfect one for me just yet. A straw clutch would be so cute paired with a floral dress for an outdoor wedding. Ohh, that gives me a great idea for a post! While I do not have nay weddings this summer, I am sure quite a few others do! Hope you have a happy Tuesday!

Billboard Music Awards 2017: Best Dressed

Last night was the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Drake won top album and Cher was honored for 6 decades of success, but it was Celine Dion that stole the show with her performance of "My Heart Wil Go On." There were tears in everyone's eyes as the camera scanned the audience. No one performs like Celine Dion.

Before Celine Dion made us feel all the feels. There was the red carpet. Here are a few of my favorite looks of the night.

 Alexandra Daddario
Okay, so this dress does somewhat resemble a curtain, but Daddario wears it so well. She can pull off old Hollywood glamour like no one else. Her porcelain white skin looks beautiful against the golden dress.

  Bebe Rexha
I read some publications calling this look the perfect 90s looks. Maybe if she added a choker? To me, this is just a classic LBD. It's flattering and sexy, enough said.

 Kate Beckinsale
Can Kate do wrong? I love the plunging v-neck and the fun firework print. She definitely lit up the red carpet.

Maia Mitchell
I love this look, however, I think it was worn to the wrong venue. The Cannes Film Festival is going on right now and I can see this look strutting down that red carpet.

April Favorites

I am always most excited to read and write monthly favorite posts.  I love finding out what other people have loved using, and I like to reflect back on products that have really made an impact in my beauty routine. This month is no different with these five products I swear by.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eye Shadow Palette - I purchased this amazing palette a few months ago. It has all the colors I like to wear regularly, from soft beige to deep browns. I also love the pinks and purples, which I have started to incorporate into more of my looks. Every time I do my eye makeup with this palette I receive compliments. Bonus, this palette smells of fresh peaches.

Flint Lint Roller - I heard about this product from one of my go-to bloggers and I immediately jumped on the site to purchase two. One I keep in my purse and other one stays at home. They have been great for on the go and fit in even my most compact of bags.

Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation - I bought this when I was in a pinch and really wasn't willing to shell out the usual bucks for my Laura Mercier foundation. I really have come to like this foundation. It does not clog my pores, which is always the biggest issues with foundation. I know it says "skin clearing," but you never know. I cannot say whether my skin has improved using this, but it has not gotten worse. The only bad thing is that if I use a little too much, it can create a cakey look. Not ideal. I just need to work on a gentle hand when applying.

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream - I received this product in my Sephora Play Box a few months ago and I have kept it close ever since. My skin gets very dry in the winter and I found most moisturizers I tried were just too heavy and ended up doing more damage than good (read: clogged pores). This formula is so light and has barely any scent. I put just the smallest amount and my face instantly feels incredibly hydrated.

Biore Pore Strips - I am sure this product is not new to anyone, but I have made these a staple in my beauty arsenal. I use it one once every week or so and it's a little too strange how stratifying it is. You can clearly see a pore theme here.
