Unboxing: Glam Planner Kawaii Grab bags

In my humble opinion, planning and Kawaii go hand in hand. I have ordered a few adorable Kawaii stickers from Etsy and loved the bit of character they seem to add. When The Glam Planner offered a Kawaii Grab Bag, I jumped at the opportunity to grow my little Kawaii collection. These are the goodies I received and I just love them.

I mean how CUTE are the sheepies!

Glossy Pages: In Bloom, Harper's Bazaar August 2016

A few weeks back, Hearst Magazines was having a super sale. I already receive Vogue, Elle, Glamour and InStyle, so I added W Mag and Harper's Bazaar to my arsenal. I got a great deal on each subscription. I would find myself reaching for these magazines at drugstores where one issue was $5 so it just made sense to buy a year subscription for $10. The August issue was my first from Harper's. Last night I was just causally flipping through when I saw this editorial of my floral dreams. This shoot took place in the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and I knew it before I even read the location. The Japanese Gardens are just beautiful. It was one of the last things I did before I moved from NYC. My dearest friend and I spent the day taking in all the gorgeous landscapes within the garden. That day has such a special place in my memories and this spread took me right back there.

Trending: Round Beach Towels

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Round towels are becoming quite the summer beach trend. I first saw a round towel in a friend's Facebook photos and ever since circular towels keeps popping up. For my beach trip next month, I wanted to purchase a new towel. I was originally thinking the standard rectangle towel. I looked at a few cute designs, but couldn't find anything I loved. I, of course, checked out Target where I found the blue flower towel from the Merimekko line on sale. I immediately snatched it up.  Now, I have my beach towel and beach tote. Next up, the bikini hunt.

Sparks of Inspiration

Have you ever felt so uninspired that you drag and are slow and everything seems grey? It sounds horrible and depressing because it is. For the past few days, I have felt blah and uninspired. I mostly blame the weather with it's scorching heat and 65% humidity that makes you so tired and sluggish. We all have those days, ya know?
Today, that all went away. I had a spark of inspiration when I least expected it. I wandered into the most wonderful cafe on my lunch break. Penny Lane Cafe stole my heart the moment I walked in. The colorful lights hanging on the ceiling and the beaded mosaic bar were beautiful. I wish my photos could do this gypsy/hippie wonderland justice. I felt immediately energized when I walked in. Everyone who worked there was so nice. There was a soothing vibe that felt almost magical. I could not stop looking around and taking in each detail. It was just the little boost I needed to get me feeling back on track.
I cannot wait to go back next week and spend a bit more time there. Everything on the menu looks so delicious. I already know I love their shakes. I grabbed a protein shake called Black Forest Power. It was so refreshing and full of blueberries and almond milk. This little gem was the perfect pick me up. I am so happy I found it. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Happy Friday!

Movie Review: Dave and Mike Need Wedding Dates

I'll be honest when I say what drew me to Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates was Zac Efron and his chiseled body. Followed closely by the adorable Anna Kendrick, who I just want to hang out with and be best buds! I expected this movie to be a bit raunchy based on the previews and a review I read. Call me a prude, but I don't love super crude humor. This movie was a great balance of plain stupidity and crude humor. There are so many great one liners. My girl friend and I have already randomly texted each other our fav lines just for fun. Without spoiling anything, let me just say, "WHAT'S A PUSH POP, MIKE?!?!" If you have any inkling of a desire to see this flick, I totally recommend it. It's funny, it's cute, and, yes, Zac is shirtless of in a few scenes.

Gotta Catch 'Em All

You guys, I may be slightly addicted to Pokemon Go! I never played the card game as a kid or even watched the TV show. I did, however, collect Pokemon cards, but only the pretty holographic ones. A few days ago, a friend came by to hang out and convinced me to try the game out. Six days later and I have gone on one Pokemon outing, caught 26 Pokemon, evolved quite a few, and have plans to hit up another Pokemon hot stop this weekend.

On Tuesday night, some friends and I hung out at Delaware Park for about 2 hours catching Pokemon with dozens of others. Everyone was just having fun and enjoying the weather. People were interacting with one another and asking for advice. At one point, two girls came around to my group and offered us free ice cream bars! They said they were handing them out to Pokemon players to keep them cool! How awesome is that! This game, while ridiculously fun, is also creating a sense of comradery between strangers. It's bringing people together and getting people outside. Of course, there are those few instances where people are getting themselves in sticky situations, but those stories shock me every time. You have to pay attention people!
I'd love to know if you are playing Pokemon Go? Any tips or tricks!

One And Done

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

One pieces are making a come back in a big way! The cuts and colors so cute. The jury is still out on whether a one piece is in my future. I will be going bathing suit shopping in the next few weeks for my beach trip in August. Bikinis are my favorite of the bathing suit family and I'm loving the halter top style. I am planning on hitting up Target when I go shopping, I will be sure to keep you updated! What is your favorite bathing suit style this summer? Where is your favorite place to shop for suits?

The It Shoe

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

I have been spotting a short block heel all over Instagram and some of my favorite style bloggers. At first, the short heel height was throwing me off. But, the more I saw this shoe in various forms, the more it grew on me, So far, I have found Asos to have the best selection. I love the first pair with the metal detail on the heel. I also adore the white slip-ons. i have seen these styled with jeans and dresses. I picture throwing these on for work with denim and a crisp white blouse. I may have to go shoe shopping this weekend!
What do you think of this shoes trend?

Weekly Spread: July 11th-July17th

This weeks spread is a hodgepodge of various shops. This was my first mix and match to create my own little kit. I actually really like how it turned out! I love the cacti and flamingos. I also switched up how I normally plan, and went the more traditional route, starting with 'Little Things' on the very bottom of each day with the half box sticker above to write in my blog post for each week day. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and here's the start of a great week!

Today, my heart continues to ache. With everything that has happened, especially, this past month, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on these sad times. What is happening in our country is terrifying and tragic. Everyday, it seems, more people are killing and being killed. My heart goes out to all those effected by these horrific events. From the Orlando victims to the Dallas shooting, this bloodshed must stop.
I often think to myself, "What can I do to help our world?" I spend my days working at a job I love and my free time writing for this blog that I love, but sometimes I think it's all a waste of time. I feel I should be doing something more. Something to better our country, our world. But what? What can I do? For now, the answer to this question is show kindness and love and peace. Love is greater than hate. If I can be kind to those I come in contact with, hopefully the kindness with spread. It's a simple plan, but all I can think to do. I will build people up.
The other day, various artists came together and wrote a song for the Orlando victims called "Hands,"There are a few verses that have resonated with me.

They can break the world
They can change it too

Can hold a gun
And hold your heart
Can put out fires
And make 'em start
I've been watching news
And seeing all this hate
Tell me is it wrong
To want a little change

During this time, I hope we can all come together and see that violence and hate is not the answer. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." I hope you have a nice weekend and remember to be kind on one another.

Unboxing: July Glam Plan Monthly

This month's Glam Plan Mystery Subscription incorporates two of my favorite color combos, pink and navy. I love the full boxes featuring the girl with a camera and a dotted checker pattern with romantic roses. This kit makes me want to plan a trip! The two extras for this month were a notebook to jot down adventures and coloful washi tape. I am spending a few days in Cape Cod next month, so the notebook may have to be on my packing list for writing down memories and day dreams.

Work It Out

Check out my Polyvore for outfit info!

On Saturday, I had my first ever session with a personal trainer. I joined a new gym last week and with my membership I received a complimentary personal training session. In less than 30 minutes I discovered just how much I needed a gym. I felt winded and worn out. But, I also felt powerful. I performed far better and longer than I thought I could. My body really surprised me. I am stronger than I realize. It's an interesting revelation when you finally let yourself see what you can really do. After my session, I decided right there I needed to work with this trainer again, and I signed up for three classes a week for the next month. By the time I got home, the endorphins were kicking in and I was beaming with excitement and drive. I am so excited about my new gym, my trainer and starting a healthy lifestyle with eating right and being active. My trainer is also a nutritionist and has given me some great tips.
Of course, before the gym sesh there was some shopping involved. I am pretty particular about my workout clothes. I am not a fan of shorts or sleeveless tops and prefer full length or cropped leggings with a t-shirt style top. I found some great options at two of my favorite stores; Target and Kohl's. Target's work out section is incredible! I found the most amazing pair of galaxy like leggings for $25. At Kohl's, I hit the jackpot in the clearance section when I found a hot pink training bra and a moisture wicking black tee. Next on my workout wish list are these mesh panel leggings.
I'd love to know, where do you buy workout clothes and what are some of your favorite things to do to stay active?

Weekly Spread: July 4th-10th

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! I spent the weekend relaxing, putt putting, and eating clams. That's my kind of holiday weekend. For this week's spread, I decided to go with a very patriotic color scheme. This kit is from The Glam Planner, and I love the use of red, white, and blue with marble swirls and floral washi tape. I wouldn't normally go for such bold colors, especially red, but the patterns and deco stickers had me hooked.
Cheers to a short work week! I'll see you back here tomorrow.

OOTD: 4th of July

I am looking forward to a long, relaxing 4th of July weekend filled with BBQ, friends, family and fireworks. Tonight, I am hosting a little BBQ to kick off the holiday. I put together a few outfits perfect for any festivities you may be attending. The red ruffle top is currently number one on my wishlist. Paired with distressed cutoffs or white denim, this top easily goes from daytime BBQ to fireworks at night. I plan on wearing something similar this evening. I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July!
