Garage Sale Finds

Two weekends ago, a few of my friends and I spent the afternoon at a giant garage sale. It was a garage sale without the garage. People were selling all sorts of things right out of their trucks or on tables they brought to display old bottles, book and other knickknacks. I love a good garage sale, so having over 50 in one area was like having an outdoor thrift mall! I did not have any items in mind when we set off, but I was just excited to see what we might find. In my opinion, I hit the jackpot! I found a globe with a stand for $25, the cutest little corner table for $10, and two lapel pins for $4 each! The wooden ladder, I found the next day on Craigslist for $30! I was browsing Pinterest when I saw this rustic way to display magazines. I love the glossy pages against the worn wood.

Beauty Review: Katy Perry x CoverGirl

The lipstick obsession continues... This time I went a little crazy and got my hands on 5 shades of the Katy Kat Matte lipsticks by CoverGirl. They say this product is matte, but it's more of a demi-matte so it's not as drying. I first heard about this collab through a Buzzfeed article where 4 girls tried on all the colors. This was very helpful in deciding which colors would look great with my skin tone. Thank you, Buzzfeed. To find these five shades, I think I scoured 4 different Walgreens. Each store only had a few colors, but I was on a mission. Once I found Catoure, I called it quits. I can't resist a nude lip. These colors so beautiful, and although it was a pain, I am so happy I found the colors I wanted. Coral Cat and Magenta Minx will be great summer colors, while Sphynx and Catoure will definitely be worn all year round. Can we just admire the packaging for a minute?! How cute are the little kitty ears! I also love the white lipstick tubes. Have you tried these lippies yet? What colors are you loving?

Unboxing: May Birchbox

My May Birchbox is here! Let's dive in!

Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist. I love a good mist. It's so refreshing and easy to use. Just spray and go. This setting mist is a 3-in-1: part makeup setter, oil controller, and UV protector. Yes, please. I definitely plan on bringing this with me to Bonnaroo for a quick cool down and UV protection. That Tennessee sun is going to be hot!

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray. I love Bumble and Bumble products. They always smell so good! I have yet to try this, but I am excited to see the kind of volume it will provide.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel - Body. I have tested out the Real Chemistry 3-Minute Face Peel, and I really liked it. I am a bit nervous to try this out, I have never used a peel on my body, but we shall see!

ModelCo Lip Lacquer in Viva. This lip product smells amazing! It goes on so smooth and does not make your lips feel sticky at all. Definitely thinking about buying the full size trio!

Well People Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer. I rarely use concealer unless I have a horrible blemish. The cool thing about this product is that it conceals while correcting. So not only does it conceal your blemishes, but over time will brighten and smooth your skin tone.

DIY: Flower Power Sunnies

I cannot believe I have not mentioned this yet, but I am going to Bonnaroo! In less than two weeks, my friends and I are road tripping to Tennessee for a 4 day festival on a 700-acre farm! I am so excited! Some of my favorite bands are going to perform from Ellie Goulding, X Ambassadors, Borns, Halsey, and so many others! To prepare for this amazing trip, I have purchased far too many off the shoulder tops and not enough sunscreen, and I have been doing a lot of DIYs!
Every summer Dolce & Gabbana come out with beautiful sunglasses covered in floral applique and detailed gold accents. While I am not about to throw down a couple hundred bucks on sunglasses, I did want to create my own floral sunnies for Bonnaroo. I am taking my style to a level of Boho I never imaged, these sunglasses included. I love they way they turned out, and I can definitely see myself wearing them long after Bonnaroo comes and goes.

To make these Flower Power Sunnies, all you need is:
~ A pair (or two) of sunglasses
~ Appliques of your choice (I found mine at Hobby Lobby) 
~ Glue gun

The first thing I did was sort out all the colors to see exactly what I was working with. I decided to play on the colors of the neutral sunnies and kept the flowers neutral as well. For the tortoise pair, I went crazy with color. By accident, this pair matches the Bonnaroo colors quite well. I found it best to create the color layout on the table before I started gluing. I absolutely love how they turned out and cannot wait to wear them at the festival!

Weekly Spread: May 23rd - May 29th

Ummm... it's the last week of May?! How did this happen? The first few months of the year always go by quickly, it seems, but this year more so than others. So, here we are. A new week, a new weekly spread. This spread is pretty exciting because I named it! Pretty cool, huh? LinnizPlanner held a contest last month to come up with the name for this kit. I submitted the name "Spring Awakening," and my idea was chosen! My prize was this beautiful kit! Hope you have a lovely week!

Remember when TSwift gave us #SquagGoals and #SwanGoals all in one glorious gram? Yeah, me too. I think it might be safe to say Taylor single-handedly created the fun and crazy pool float industry. Sadly, I do not have a pool, but with how cute these floats are, a kiddie pool might be enough reason to justify the purchase of the Rainbow Unicorn. What other fun and crazy floats have you seen?

Simple Flower Arrangements

While I could easily have fresh flowers all year round, there is something about a home full of flowers during spring and summer that is whimsical. I discovered a flower shop that is a few minutes drive from my office. Lipinoga Florist offers beautiful bouquets, potted arrangements, and single stems. I picked up a few single stems to spruce up the apartment. The woman working wrapped the flowers up for me and added Baby's Breath for a sweet touch.
When I arrived home after work, I pulled out all of vases and started trimming. I do love a big, full vase of flowers, but I find myself more often placing one or two stems per vase. I like the simple and delicate touch it conveys.

Beauty Review: Colourpop Ultra Lips & Giveaway!

If there is one beauty item I buy like crazy, it's lip products. It doesn't matter if it's a ChapStick or a lipstick, I cannot get enough. When I heard about ColourPop Cosmetics from two YouTubers, I knew I had to get my hands on some. And I did, four to be exact, and I am hooked. The colors are beautiful and so pigmented. The formula is rich and smooth, and the staying power is incredible. Echo Park has been my go-to color since these babies arrived. The nudes were calling my name, but I had to grab a bright poppy color for those soon-to-be summer nights. ColourPop also sells a variety of off the cuff colors from a pastel lilac to a stormy grey. Not to mention, the names are pretty fun. Who doesn't love a good nail polish or lipstick name?!

Shorts season is approaching and I cannot get enough of the cute styles and prints for this summer! From casual to dressy, shorts are great for summer concerts or brunch with the girls. I am personally loving the fabric shorts with colorful embroidery details. The black shorts shown above are from H&M and they look so comfy and cute! I am doing some summer shopping this week and I cannot wait to check out my local H&M!

Favorite Work Snacks

My relationship with food has always been a good one. I try to have a balanced diet. My biggest food motto is "Everything in Moderation." I never deprive myself of anything I am craving, and I never let myself feel guilty for eating something. If I notice I have gone off the beaten path and have been eating too many unhealthy foods for a few days in a row (pizza for dinner one night and then two days of leftovers), I just step back and eat healthier for the next few days to get back on track.
While lunch and dinner are the bigger meals I have during the day, I do try and make sure I eat something for breakfast. Usually that consists of hard boiled eggs, a Luna bar, and occasionally a bagel with cream cheese. For lunch, I try to pack a meal to bring to work, usually dinner left overs or a 6 inch sub from Subway loaded with veggies. While a good breakfast and lunch should be filling, I find myself wanting a little snack around 3pm. I used to keep cookies and sweets on hand in my snack drawer at my desk, but those only fill me up momentarily and then leave me feeling unsatisfied and sluggish.
Since the farmer's market started back up for the summer, I have been stocking up on fruits, veggies and herbs. I love buying a big bag of apples, which lasts the week and are great for work snacks. I have been very adament about having healthy snacks at my desk. I do also keep one or two sweet treats for those sugar cravings I can't shake, but overall, I like to have healthy snack options available:

Apples are my favorite crispy treat. I can easily eat them on their own, but peanut butter is a great source of protein with the added sweetness I don't feel bad about devouring. I love hummus and pairing it with baby carrots is oh so tasty. I will occasionally which out the carrots for pretzels when I need something a little more salty and savory. The goat cheese, honey and crackers might seem a bit much, but I just scoop out a tablespoon of goat cheese I pick up from the farmer's market, drizzle some honey on top and grab a few crackers. This snack is so delicious and a simple, but luxurious way to snack. I'd love to know, what are your favorite snacks?

Chanel Resort 2017

Last week, Chanel held their resort runway show in Cuba. Many designers have started holding traveling resort shows. Last year, Chanel hosted the show on a yacht. "But with this show, Karl Lagerfeld achieved it all: a spectacular locale at a historic turning point in international relations, and a collection that was relatable, wearable, exquisitely made, and joyfully youthful." The feel of the show started out stiff and dark, but as the looks kept coming down the open-air street show, they became lighter and brighter. Here's are a few of my favorite looks:

There is something that really draws me to Boho style. It is very relaxed, yet beautiful. Embroidery might be my favorite detail seen in many Boho pieces. I have noticed an embroidery theme popping up everywhere. From dress and shirts to handbags and phone cases, embroidery is on everything. I have my eye on a few of the pieces linked above that would be perfect for my summer wardrobe.

Cannes Film festival: Best Dressed

The Cannes Film Festival is underway and there have already been so many red carpet looks I'm loving. Aside from the glamour, the movies coming out all look so good too. I cannot wait to see Cafe Society. It has a stocked cast from Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart to Steve Carell and was written and directed by Woody Allen. And, I'm not going to lie, Trolls with Anna Kendricjk and JT looks really cute! Here's a few of my favorite looks from the festival:

Beauty Review: derma|e Firming DMAE Moisturizer

There is a Walgreens a few minutes away from my office. I tend to run there during my lunch break for household items such as paper towels and tissues to avoid having to stop anywhere on my way home. A few weeks ago, I was browsing the makeup section and settled on a lipstick. During the checkout, the cosmetics woman asked if I'd like a sample. Never being able to turn down a freebie, I grabbed a packet of derma|e Firming DMAE Moistuizer. As opposed to most packet samples that get thrown away or tossed into a junk drawer, I ended up using the moisturizer a few days later. My face has been terribly dry lately. For the past few months, I have only been spritzing my face with Lush's Tea Tree Water after cleansing. That regime was working for a while. The toner is also moisturizing, but I just hadn't taken the time to find a good moisturizer. Until this derma|e product came along. I use this every night and in the morning. There is no scent, which I like. Because it is a firming moisturizer, there is a slight tingling sensation that lasts about a minute. What I love most about this product is that it does not cause me to breakout. My skin feels hydrated and tightened. This will be a staple in my beauty army for some time. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

To the Market

Saturday morning was the opening day of my local farmer's market. I have been anxiously awaiting for the farmer's market to come around. It's my favorite summer activity. Waking up, walking to Spot for a Chai Tea Latte, and making my way to the market for fresh flowers, goat cheese and anything else that tickles my fancy. This year, there were quite a few new vendors that I look forward to getting to know. Here are a few yummy treats I picked up this past weekend.

Review: Amy Schumer Live

On Saturday night, I saw the incredible Amy Schumer! My friend and I bought tickets a few days before the event and I am so glad we did! I loved Amy in Trainwreck and ever since seeing that movie I have been hooked. Before the comedy show on Saturday night, I spent the week watching YouTube videos from her show, Inside Amy Schumer, and any other videos I could find. This video from vanity Fair is hilarious! I was looking forward to the show all day, but I was cautiously optimistic. I had never been to a big name comic stand up so I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course, I expected Amy to be funny (duh), but she was making-me-cry-I-can't-breathe funny. I was laughing for the entire hour and half she was on stage! She jokes ranged from feminism to dating and sex to PMS. My friend and I left that show raving on and on! I wish I could watch it all over again. If she is coming to a venue near you, go! Get your tickets now and go! You will not regret it!
