I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! This is my first week of planning in my Recollections planner from Michael's. I must say I love it! It was only $15 when I used a 50% off coupon. The set up is very similar to an Erin Condren Vertical Planner. The only slight issue I have is with the dates at the top, but that is such an easy fix. I am thinking I can use White Out on the numbers and just use numbered stickers or use date cover stickers depending on the kit. Other than that, I am very happy I was able to find a cheaper alternative to the EC Planner.
Since New Years Day falls on a Sunday this year, I decided to decorate the week leading up to New Years in festive colors. I picked up the kit shown from Sticker Bloom. I love the gold, black and white theme. Classic New Years colors. I also had a few extra glamour girls from a Mix and Match kit I ordered from Willow Fields. They were perfect to add that extra touch of flair to this spread.
Here are a few things I would love to see under my tree on Christmas morning. I have been eager to try the new Essie Gel Polish after hearing great reviews. Snuggling with hot cocoa and a movie would be a lot more fun with a mermaid tail!
Happy Monday! I cannot believe it is Christmas week! Luckily, all of my shopping is done. What a relief. I have a few parties this week, and I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends. I hope everyone has a great week! Don't forget to check below for links to the Etsy shops!
For some, the holiday parties may have already started. Last night marked my first holiday party of the season. I ended up wearing a very festive green plaid skirt. For a dressier party I have my eye on a few sparkly pieces including this sequin dress and skirt.
I created three outfits from casual to ladylike. I love a monochromatic look. The first look sports a silver blazer with a fitted sequin mini dress paired with shiny silver loafers. This ensemble is the epitome of "cool girl." While I'm not sure I could pull this look off, I might give it a try for a fun holiday party out with the girls. The second look is more my style with a gold sequin blazer, a little black cami, fitted trousers, and heels with a bow. This looks scream classy and fun. The third and final look is something I can absolutely see myself wearing . I love a good skirt. I paired this with a sleek, flowy top and bow booties. I might even add these cute tights for a chilly night.
I hope these outfits give you some glittery inspiration for your holiday parties this season!
A big trend I have noticed for the holidays are glitter booties. I have been quite unsuccessful at finding a pair so far. I ordered two different pairs and ended up having to return them because they did not fit right or the tops were too high and unflattering. But the search continues. I would love to wear a pair of glitter booties and a black dress on New Years! Wish me luck!
Happy Monday! How incredibly cute is this Grinch kit?! One of my favorite Christmas movies hands down. This week is all about finishing up holiday shopping and reconnecting with friends. Hope you have a great week!
Have I ever mentioned how I am a sucker for lip products? When I spotted these new Revlon Kiss Balm at Walgreen's I scooped it up and checked out in one fluid motion. I bought the Tropical Coconut first to test it out. I liked that it would just add a nice sheen to my lips instead of any color. The first thing I noticed right off the bat was the incredible smell. This lip balm not only smells great but the formula is so hydrating. I feel in love with this product and naturally had to pick up a few more. I opted for a Berry Burst, a wine red, and fresh strawberry, the perfect pink. I think I may have to grab the last few colors to complete my collection. I am totally in love with this balm and I highly recommend them!
I am a little late with the November Favorites, but better late than never, right? This month I lived in the coziest coat, finally found the perfect pair of distressed denim and rediscovered one of my favorite perfumes.
1. Red Plaid Coat. I have a bad habit of buying a new coat each year, but I didn't feel too guilty about purchasing this one since it got it for half off! It's like wearing a blanket. It's a bit over-sized, which is perfect for laying chunky sweaters!
2. Distressed Denim. I have been wanting a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans for some time now. I just never found the right pair. I stumbled upon these on the sale rack of Old Navy for $11! They were the only pair and in my size. I'd say it was meant to be.
3. Juliette Has A Gun Perfume. This "perfume" actually is not considered a perfume because there is only one ingredient, Cetalox. It is the base note of most perfumes, but instead of adding other flavor notes, they just let it be. This smells like nothing I have ever worm before and I always receive compliments each time I wear it.
Happy Monday! I spent the weekend camping with friends. I had a great time playing card games and being detached from my phone. I am looking forward to future camping trips! Now that I am back in the real world, I am prepping for Christmas. Time to start wrapping and cross a few more items off my to do list. I hope you have a great week!
I normally like to post my weekly spreads on Mondays, but I just couldn't get it together this week. This kit was too cute not to share! Charlie Brown's Christmas is one of my favorite holiday movies and reminds me of so many wonderful childhood holiday memories! I picked this kit up from one of my favorite Etsy shops, Wild Summer Designs!
I hope everyone had a great week and has a great weekend! Back to regularly scheduled posts next week... I hope!
This week has been one of those weeks where I can't seem to get my head on straight. I have felt behind and unorganized all week! I finally slowed things down last night and laid in bed listening to music. Here are a few songs I have been listening this month.
For the past month, I have been thinking about everything I am thankful for. For some reason I felt there had to be something profound, something extravagant, if you will. But I realized when it comes to being grateful, it is usually the simplest of things that mean the most. I am thankful for a roof over my head, for my job, and for all the wonderful people in my life. My friends and family are my greatest gift and for them I am the most thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
When the brisk weather arrives, the plaid and gingham comes out to play. I have always loved plaid, but my obsession really took flight when I purchased a red coat (shown above) from Old Navy. It is so cozy it feels like I'm wearing a blanket. Added bonus, it was 50% off when I bought it! I have quite the plaid scarf collection, but I have been on the look out for a plaid shirt dress. I love the contrasting colors and tied waist of the shirt dress above. Maybe I will find one during my Black Friday shopping adventure!
Happy Tuesday ! Happy Thanksgiving Week! Happy Gilmore Girls Week! What a week it's going to be! I have been saving this kit especially for Thanksgiving. I love the girl with the coffee cup and the floral and striped backgrounds. I am really looking forward to spending time with my family and friends and having a long weekend. It is much needed. I hope everyone has a great week!
Last night the 2016 AMAs took place. Selena Gomez made her first public appearance since August and gave a moving speech about rebuilding ones self. Twenty One Pilots won and Gigi Hadid was a pretty funny host. And, of course, there were some stunners on the red carpet. Here are my three favorite looks.
Gigi looking angelic in a white lace number.
Hailee Steinfeld shined in this green glitter romper. Loving the cape.
Zoe Saldana looked edgy in this sequined off the shoulder top paired with sleek black pants.
Last week, I focused on the merlot items I have been loving. This week, it's all about sienna. Without even realizing it, I picked up a few pieces for fall that all were in a burnt orange color scheme. My first purchase was a long sweater from Forever 21 that I picked up at the end of the summer. Next came a velvet like top from Kohl's followed by a sleeveless dress also found at Kohl's. Now, I catch myself gravitating to everything in that shade. I recently picked up the cutest Aztec print Carly dress from a LuLaRoe pop up. (Look for a post about that experience soon!) I love the chunky knit sweater shown above and I may or may not be keeping my eyes peeled for a similar piece.
I came across this hair trend last week and I cannot stop thinking about it! I would love to dye the ends of my hair this beautiful rose gold color. I have heard it can be a lot to maintain, but I am so tempted! I saw that Sally Beauty sells a temporary dye that washes out after two shampoos. That would be a great way to test the waters of this hair trend. But, I would still have to lighten the pieces I want to color rose gold. Hmmm! Decisions!
Leg Warmers are making a big comeback... in my wardrobe!
Last night, my roomie and I went on a impromptu shopping spree. I picked up an incredible jacket and three pairs of leg warmers. Yes, three. One in beige, one in black and one in burgundy. I have had leg warmers on the brain for a few weeks now. We stopped at Target where I picked up this great over the knee pair in oatmeal. Then we hit up Marshalls where I found the holy grail of leg warmers from $5-$7! I plan on pairing leg warmers with just about everything. Leggins with boots and skirts, jeans and boots, and, of course, leggings and boots! They add such a fun pop of texture and color.
Whether I am getting ready for work in the morning or grabbing a coffee with a friend over the weekend, I have found myself reaching for the same items. Before the weather even warranted sweaters, I stocked up on long cardigans. I have about five in rotation right now. Some solid, some with patterns, all comfy and cozy. I like to pair the cardigans with leggings (weekends) or jeans (work), and my favorite over the knee boots for a laid back and stylish look. Little extras to complete the look have been a tassel necklace I picked up on sale at Target, my favorite lipstick from NYX, Root Beer Float, and the most comfortable black bralette from Aerie. Which items have you been wearing on repeat?
With an abundance of apples from a trip to a local farm, I had to find a recipe that would call for a handful of apples. I decided on a quick and simple Apple Crisp recipe from Betty Crocker. With only twenty minutes of prep and 45 minutes in the oven, this is a treat I can make in no time and is the perfect plate to bring to any party. Served fresh out of the oven or cold, this apple dessert is delicious.
4 medium cooking apples (such as Rome Beauty, Granny Smith or Greening)
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup water
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, soft enough to spread
Ice cream, if you like.
1. Heat the oven to 375º.
2. Peal and Cut the apples into thin slices. Put apple slices in the pan.
3. Put the brown sugar and cinnamon in the small bowl. Stir until mixed. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples. Pour the water over apples. Mix it all together.
4. Put the flour, granulated sugar and butter in the medium bowl. Mix with your hands until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle crumbly mixture over apples.
5. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are soft and topping is golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes on the wire cooling rack.
6. Serve with ice cream or the whipped cream. Enjoy!
I have been loving deep wine reds for fall. Its such a beautiful color. Just the other day I purchased my dream shoe in the most unlikely of places, K Mart, and now I want everything I see in burgundy! From statement necklaces to wool hats, gimme it all!
Last night, was an incredible night for country music. The 50th CMA Awards were held last night in Nashville and all the greatest country artists over the year were honored. The performances were incredible, Carrie and Brad were pretty funny, and everyone was dressed to impress! Beyonce even made a special appearance! Here are my top 5 favorite red carpet looks of the night.
One of Carrie Underwoood's many incredible outfits! See more here.
Jennifer Nettles in a red show stopper.
Kelsea Ballerini looking sweet in this floral gown.
