My Long Holiday Weekend

 {Cozy corner of the cottage full of ski photos}

{Beautiful table setting}

 {The ceiling at Shea's Theater}

I had a wonderful long weekend with my family. Thursday was spent at my Aunt & Uncle's cottage in the woods laughing and eating delicious food. Friday I had the day off and it was so nice to relax, watch movies and make a few homemade Christmas cards. Saturday was spent at my dad's where we decorated the tree. Yesterday, my mom and I spent the afternoon at the theater for The Nutcracker Ballet. It was so beautiful. The costumes, the dancing and the music were mesmerizing. It was the perfect weekend. There is so much to be thankful for.

Happy Little Workspace

I love my job. I love being able to let my creative juices flow and the people I work with are amazing. However, there are times when the thought of sitting at my desk for 8-9 hours is a bit depressing. I do often get up to walk around and chit chat while at work, but for the most part I am at my desk. Recently, a co-worker inspired me to create a theme for my desk, and I have been having so much fun thinking about little decorations and what colors I want to incorporate. So far, I added two little succulents to my desk and it has already brightened up the space. Gold, white and a pop of mint green are going to be my colors. Gold and white were a given, but I wanted a fun color to add in the mix. I want my desk to be a productive area, as well as my happy place, so the items I use to decorate will be duel purpose. For example, a gold tray that holds a box of tissues, Post-Its, and a bowl of paperclips and rubber bands. I do want to have a few items to make the space mine, such as a gold art print, a jar full of my favorite candies, and a framed pictures of my friends and family.

This little project already has me excited to be at my desk more. I also have plans on decorating for the Holidays in a few weeks!

AMAs Best Dressed

Okay, so I am a few days behind, but I love a good red carpet look. Here are my four favorite looks from the American Music Awards that took place on Sunday.

Zendaya in Emanuel Ungara.
Zendaya looks so ladylike in this all pink ensemble. I love the frilly top and the sleek, straight hair.

Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad.
The touch of floral on this white gown makes the look. Florals can easily go wrong, but Nina makes it look oh-so-right. The black and white strappy heels bring a bit of  edge and drama to the look.

Carrie Underwood in Elie Madi.
I mean, we already know Carrie Underwood is Superwoman, but this sparkly cape is a good reminder.

Gigi Hadid in Bao Tranchi.
I love the skirt in this outfit. The top is not my favorite. I am still amazed by her hair! I cannot believe it's a wig! I definitely thought she chopped her hair off.

Unboxing: November Birchbox

It's that time of the month again! My Birchbox has arrived! How beautiful is this month's box?! I love the colors. What's inside isn't so bad either.

Oribe Shampoo, Conditioner, and Masque for Beautiful Color. This line helps keep your color while hydrating and smoothing. I have tried a few other Oribe products and they are great! I also love the smell of these products!

Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare Complete Clarity Daily Facial Exfoliating Polish. I have yet to try this product, but it sounds perfect for me! I love to exfoliate my skin, but sometimes it can be a bit harsh, especially in the winter when the air is dry. This creamy formula exfoliates and hydrates with aloe extracts.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Touchable Curl Cream. My hair has a natural wave to it when I let it air dry. I usually add some soothing serum to prevent major frizz. This product will also help with that and enhance the wave a bit more. I am very excited to give this cream a try.

MAKE Face Gloss. I have never heard of a face gloss, but I am definitely intrigued. This will be great for the winter when my skin is a bit on the dull side. The description says, just add a dab on your cheeks and nose for a dewy glow. Yes, please.

LOC Complete Collection for Lips. This lipstick was my sample choice for the month. I picked the shade Glam Life, which is a deep, rich burgundy color. LOC is a paraben-free and cruelty-free line with a great price point. This line is a Birchbox brand in collaboration with YouTube beauty guru, Tati Westbrook. Hello, statement lip.

Shades of Blue

I have been thinking of all ways I can style these over-the-knee boots. A shift dress first came to mind. These shades of blue look beautiful with the light taupe boot. This outfit is a strong contender for Thanksgiving. The dress is forgiving and under the boots I can wear knee high socks to keep warm. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving! Only 3 more days!

Splurge or Save

When it comes to riding boots or OTK boots, Stuart Weitzman is the designer that first comes to mind. Then comes the price tag. I found a look-alike to the Stuart Weitzman 'Lowland' for a fraction of  the price. These Justine OTK boots by Shoedazzle are my latest purchase and I am in love. They are incredibly comfortable and look amazing with a shift dress or jeans. I am so excited to wear these as often as possible this season. Maybe someday I will splurge on a pair of Weitzmna's, but for now I choose to save.

Daily Beauty Products

I like to keep my daily makeup routine pretty simple. For the most part, I can throw on my makeup in about 5 minutes or less. here's what I have been using and a few news items I have added to my regime.
I start with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer as my foundation. Depending on my skin, I can dab on a light amount or build it up on more troubling days. I like to top off the tinted moisturizer with some powder foundation. Dolce & Gabbana Perfection Veil Pressed Powder is a favorite. This step helps keep everything in place. For blush, I have found the holy grail. Benefits Benetint Cheek and Lip Stain. This liquid blush stays on all day and gives me a dewy look. I also love Benefit's Roller Lash mascara. I do not use a eyelash curler and this product truly does give your lashes some curl. These four products are my basics for everyday.
For special occasions or when I need to look extra presentable, I'll add just a few more products to the mix. Nars Laguna Bronzer for a healthy glow and Makeup Forever concealer is my go-to for pesky spots or under eye circles. When I use a bit of eyeshadow, I start out with Urban Decay's Primer Potion. I have used this for years and still love it. I normally stick to just one or two colors for my lid. I love the Dior eyeshadow in gold . This product goes on sheer or can be layered for a more vibrant, bold look. I have been dying to play around with a smokey gold eye with this. I used to be a eye pencil girl, until I discovered Cynthia Rowley liquid liner over a year ago and I haven't looked back. It is so easy to apply and lasts all day.
So there you have it. My everyday basic beauty routine to my more glammed up regime.

DIY Shelf Makeover

Spray paint has struck again. When I was living in New York City, I purchased this shelf for the bathroom. Once I moved to a smaller apartment in the city, I passed it along to my brother. It has made it's way back to me, but at first I wasn't sure how I would incorporate it into my living space. It was a little beat up from all of its travels and the color didn't fit into my decor theme. Then I saw the white spray paint I had purchased for an earlier project... Bingo!

The top of the shelf was in rough shape. I stumbled on this adhesive and fell in love. From the white paint to the marble print adhesive, this shelf looks brand new and is possibly one of my favorite pieces in the apartment. Most of the items found on the shelves were purchased from Hobby Lobby. That store always has the best home decor pieces.

Favorite Etsy Shoppes

It's time to start thinking about holiday gifts! I love shopping for Christmas presents and finding the perfect gift for the friend's and family on my list. This year I am going to do a bit of in-store shopping, and, of course, some online shopping. For my one-stop-online-shop, I will be browsing Etsy. You can find almost anything on Etsy. I love to shop for paper goods, such as stationary and cards, as well as jewelry and home decor items. Here are my 6 favorite Etsy shoppes:

1. Worthwhile Prints specializes in notebooks, greeting cards, and art prints. The evil eye is a commonly seen print and I love it. The notebooks would make a great gift for the writer or planner on your holiday list.

2. RedwoodStoneworks has beautiful ceramic pieces. I love the little pots perfect for succulents. Anyone with a green thumb would adore these pots.

3. AutumnAndIndigoHome is one of my favorite places to look for art prints. I love the simple designs. This flower skull print if my absolute favorite. For the person who has everything, you can't go wrong with an art print.

4. OhMyWordDesigns has all of monogram needs, From mugs to mouse pads to notebooks, this shop is for the monogram lover in your life.

5. PrintStitchandPaste has the most adorable cards. I plan of buying all of my holiday cards from this shop. The only problem is that I cannot decide because I love them all!

6. ConfettiAndGold has beautiful delicate jewelry. I have had my eye on this Coordinates necklace for some time and I can think of a few people on my list who would love it as well.

Holiday Dressing

Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away and holiday parties just a few days behind. Our family is very big on Thanksgiving, so planning an outfit is not as ridiculous as it may seem. The more formal outfits above would also work for those upcoming holiday parties. For the most part, we are pretty casual. I mean we are stuffing ourselves with turkey, no one wants to wear anything too formfitting. For dressier options, I love an over the knee boot with a fun skirt. A fit and flare dress in a festive pattern with gold accent jewelry is perfect for a dressier occasion.

For more casual options, a chunky knit sweater is a no-brainer. I have also been loving knit cardigans. At my aunt's cottage, it can get toasty with the fireplace roaring. A piece I can take on and off is a must.

Beauty Trends: Korean Products

Korean beauty products have been on the rise in the beauty industry as of late. With the adorable packaging and mostly natural ingredients, it comes as no surprise. I picked up a few items myself and here are my thoughts:

Tony Moly Banana Hand Milk. Light formula and smells like a fresh, ripe banana. It's made with shea butters and milk proteins to moisturize and the banana extract is full of nutrients for your skin.

Tony Moly Red Apple Hand Cream. This is one of my favorite from the bunch. It smells just like a crisp red apple and feels very luxurious. It is super moisturizing and does not leave a greasy after feel.

Tony Moly Bunny Pocket Sleek Mist. Probably the cutest packaging of them all. This mist hydrates the skin and helps keep your makeup in place.

Tony Moly Panda's Dream Brightening Eye Base. This product is so smooth and silky. As the name explains, it helps brighten your under eyes and covers any dark circles.

Tony Moly Peach Lip Balm. My other favorite from the group, this smooth lip balm hydrates my lips instantly and smells amazing. I am very tempted to purchase the cherry and blueberry lip balm as well.

Planner Time

I've always been a big fan of using a planner to jot down notes and events. In high school and college, I used a planner for everything from keeping track of tests, my work schedule and special occasions, but I never considered the planner a 'fun' thing. It was strictly to stay organized. That mentality changed a few months back.
Before I started my job, I knew I wanted to purchase a planner to use for work and my personal life. I searched for some time before I stumbled on the Ban.do agenda at Barnes & Noble. As soon as I opened it and saw the adorable drawings, I knew I had found the perfect planning partner.
Shortly after purchasing my Ban.do journal, I became more intrigued by how people used and decorated their planners. I have been a long time YouTube follower of Elle Fowler, aka AllThatGlitters21. Anyone who followers Elle knows she is an agenda junkie. She was sharing who she  utilizes and decorates her agenda, and I just had to get my hands on some adorable stickers.
Fun fact: When I was about 12, I created a Lisa Frank Sticker Club in my neighborhood. Every week my friends and I would meet under the willow tree in my front yard to show off our newest stickers and make very calculated trades. My love of stickers started from a very young age.
Over the past two months, I have ordered my fair share of planner stickers and have really enjoyed planning out my week and giving my agenda a weekly makeover. I worked on next week's spread last night and it was very soothing. Organization and planning is therapeutic for me.
Here's a look at this week's layout and my small but growing sticker collection:

My sticker collection is made mostly of stickers I use daily or weekly, aside from the macaroon stickers which were too cute to pass up. I love the Hydrate stickers to help me drink 8 glasses of water a day and the to-do flags. Here are links to my favorite Etsy shops for finding planner stickers;
