Scream Queens: It's All About the Fashion

Scream Queens debuted last Tuesday and I was so excited to tune in to see a few of my favorites all in one show... Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele- just to name a few. What ended up intrigued me most were the costume designs. The outfits were impeccable. Chanel Oberlin, played by Emma Roberts, not only has my dream wardrobe, but also my dream closet with a spiral staircase to boot. Don't get me wrong, the story line, the acting and the script is great, but what I'm really looking forward to is seeing what Chanel wears next. So far my favorite outfit is a tie between the blue Chanel tweed two piece and the 3.1 Phillip Lim feather shift dress.

Long Layers

Long cardigans seem to be a big trend this fall. I actually first saw a long cardigan while people watching at my local farmers market a few weeks ago. I saw the ankle length tribal piece and knew immediately I needed to find one. So, the hunt began. I found the perfect cardy at Kohl's, but I think I may need to add one or two more to my closet.

Fringe: Hinge
Striped: Forever 21

Thakoon for DesigNation

On September 10th, Thakoon and Kohl's released the DesigNation Collection. The theme of the collection is Hello, London. The pieces are a mix of "feminine-tomboy." I immediately fell in love with just about everything. The plaid vest is on my Must Have list. When getting ready for work in the morning I am all about easy yet chic. The mock-layered pieces are perfect for a instant outfit. I already purchased this long sleeved mock-layer that will look great with black denim or a skater skirt.

My Favorite Time of Year

Happy First Day of Fall! Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love watching the leaves change and curling up with a warm cup of cider. Plaid is everywhere and comfy layers keep you warm. I am already so excited to visit a pumpkin patch and pick apples at a local farm. I just love Fall!

Copy Cat: Emma Watson

When I saw Emma Watson wearing this outfit and I knew immediately that I had to be a copy cat. Not only is this look classic featuring a navy and white striped top, but it's the perfect transitional outfit from summer to fall. Seeing as today is the last day of summer, I thought this outfit was fitting.

2015 Emmys Best Dressed

At last night's Emmys, everyone came dressed to impress. I was quite surprised by how many looks I really liked. I narrowed it down to my top 5.

Emma Roberts looks ethereal in this gorgeous Jenny Packhan gown. I love her hair sweep to the side in loose waves and the pop of color from her clutch.

Talk about a power pant (suit). January Jones looked amazing in this vibrant jumpsuit from Ulyana Sergeenko. It fit her perfectly and I love the color.

Kerry Washington always slays on the red carpet. Last night was no exception in this Marc Jacobs dress. I get a bad biatch vibe that I'm loving from this look. The details on the shoulder and slit in the skirt are my favorite parts of this dress.

Maisie Williams looked darling this is quilted light pink strapless number. I love the shoes. So fun and made the whole look age appropriate for her. I'll take a pair in a size 7, please. I heard she was carrying a clutch in the shape of a penguin wearing a tuxedo. How cute!

Sarah Hyland's petit frame was elegantly shown off in this Zac Posen gown. Anything off the shoulder is a win in my book. She nailed the old Hollywood glamour look.

You can see the rest of the looks here! What were some of your favs?

Unboxing: September Birchbox

My September Birchbox has arrived! Birchbox is celebrating it's 5 year anniversary! This month's You're Beautiful box was designed by three subscribers. How cool is that?! Now to the goods!

Rene Furterer Renewal Leave-In Cream. The hair cream is great for bringing dry hair back to life, and it smells amazing.
L'Artisan Parfumeur. This perfume has a bit of everything going on. There are sweeter notes of blackberry and a musky, wood notes as well.
Tocca Body Scrub in Bianca. I love body scrubs. This one by Tocca has a fresh and subtle scent of green tea and lemon.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil. My brows are so dark, I don't often use any product on them unless its a fiber gel, such as Benefit Gimme Brow. But, this brow pencil by Anastasia glides so easily I can make perfect feathery like strokes for a natural look in spare areas.
treSitQue Correct & Cover Concearler Crayon. I love the twist turn on this product. The easier to apply, the better. The concealer has coconut oil for super smooth application and stay all day power for those pesky dark circles and annoying spots.

Apartment Styling

Apartment Styling

Even before I moved into my new apartment I was so excited to start decorating. I did not have a color scheme for the living room until I finally found the perfect canvas print to hang on the large blank wall one sees when first entering the apartment. I toyed with the idea of a gallery wall, but decided to do that over my desk area (more to come). I found the gold and grey birch canvas at Hobby Lobby for half off. Once I found that focal piece for the living room I was able to purchase other items like a lamp and pillows.
I love the idea of a deer head as a center wall piece or for over the bed, but I am not positive where it will go in my apartment. Hobby Lobby has a few options for animal heads and colors. Another decorating piece I am slightly obsessed with is pillows. I am all about accent pillows. I have about 5 just on my bed. Target has some great options at a decent price. Etsy is also a great source for cute and unique accent pillows.

Beauty Haul & Review

Protect & Refresh Dry Shampoo. I have tried many dry shampoos, but this one somehow slipped by until recently. I have been a longtime loyal user of Klorane Dry Shampoo, but this Beauty Protector brand is a strong contender. The scent is subtle and the powder quickly disappears making my morning routine much easier and faster.

Protect & Detangle. I always have a few heat protectants/detanglers in my arsenal so when one runs out, I can just grab another. Each time I come back to this particular product I always question why I don't keep it stocked. This product is amazing. It smells great and works wonders. With just a few sprays, my comb glides through my hair when wet and unruly.

R&Co Gemstone Color Shampoo. A few weeks ago, I went to the salon to get my hair dyed back to my natural color and added some babylights for dimension. I loved the way it turned out. To keep the babylights from turning brassy, I invested in this color safe shampoo that leaves my hair so shiny.

Aerie Body Cream. I've never been someone who gets out the shower and immediately puts lotion on. My skin is pretty good about retaining moisture, but when I found this Aerie body cream I couldn't wait to slather it on. It has a subtle floral scent and the formula is very lightweight. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Aerie beauty products.

Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara. I grabbed this product one day in desperate need of mascara without really paying attention, and I wish I hadn't been in such a rush. I love the way this mascara makes my lashes look: full, lengthened and not at all clumpy. But there is a major problem, I purchased it in waterproof. I am not a fan of waterproof mascara. I realized what a mistake I made when my eye makeup remover could not make this stuff budge. I ended up rubbing too hard and lost three eyelashes! I definitely want to give this mascara a fair shot with the regular formula.

NYFW: Part One

New York Fashion Week officially kicked off on September 8th for the Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear collections. This is the first time in three years I am not in NYC for fashion week attending and/or reviewing shows. But that won't stop me from keeping up with the shows. I have rounded up some of my favorite looks by designer that have debuted thus far.

Some trends I have spotted so far:
1. Off the shoulder tops.
2. All black & white ensembles.
3. Floral- No surprise there.
4. Lots of white lace.
5. Skirts with pleats.
6. Espadrilles, in flat and heel form.
7. Bucket bags.

New York Fashion Week ends on the 17th. Check back next Monday for Part Two! In the meantime, you can see all of the shows here: http://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2016-ready-to-wear.
