Unboxing: Eric Condren 2016 Life Planner!

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I had a great time catching up with family members I don't get to see very often. Please excuse my absence these past two days, I have had a terrible cold. Since the day after Christmas I have been so sick. But yesterday, I received a special delivery in the mail that made me feel a bit better. My Erin Condren Life Planner finally arrived.

I am a planner, and after watching copious amounts of Plan With Me videos on YouTube, I had to purchase the ECLP. I am so excited to get organized this year and decorate my planner each week. Look out for Etsy sticker shop reviews and favorites and planner spreads in the coming weeks!

2. Chanel 631 Orage
3. Deborah Lippmann My Old Flame
4. Ciate Olivia Palermo in Napa Valley

Christmas Cookies

Last weekend, I spent a few days at my dad's house for some rest, relaxation and baking. I had been wanting to make Christmas cookies, but it can be a bit time consuming. I cheated alittle and used Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix, but they still tasted delicious and took a fraction of the time to make. My youngest brother and I decorated them, which was so nice. These days he's more into playing video games than hanging out with his sister so I savored the half and hour or so we had together. He actually got pretty creative with his cookies and I was quite impressed. they turned out beautiful and I ended up bringing some into work. Everyone loved them!

Star Wars Beauty

Happy Star Wars Day! Oh, that's not a thing? Well, it should be! I will admit, I am excited about the new movie, The Force Awakens. With that said, I will be waiting to see the movie until after the holidays when the crowds die down a bit. In the meantime, I will show my support through the various Star Wars merch from Covergirl makeup to t-shirts and leggings from just about every clothing line known to man. A few weeks ago, I picked up these Limited Edition Star Wars beauty products by Covergirl. I love the deep berry lip in the color 30. The gold is a bit far out, but the color is beautiful.

Above is the full collection from Covergirl. I may need to go back from the dark purple and the minty lip shades! What do you think of this collection?

2. Red Valentino Dress

Pantone Color of the Year

Just last week, the Pantone Color of the Year was announced. Two colors were chosen by Pantone Color Institute: Rose Quartz, a lovely faint pink and Serenity, a baby powder blue. An article I read (link below) states, "This color combo is said to be a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace." When I look at these colors, they are very soothly. I have always been a lover of pastels and soft shades. Leatrice Eiseman, the Creative Director of the Pantone Color Institute, goes on to talk about how these colors are tied into the world and what is going on in today's society with gender. "In many parts of the world we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design," said Eiseman. "This more multilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumers' increased comfort with using color as a form of expression which includes a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged, and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage." I, for one, can appreciate this tie in to today's changes and am happy to see colors/topics relating to a bigger picture. I love these soft and sweet colors. I'd love to know, what are your thoughts?

How to Beat the Holiday Hype

The Holiday Season can be crazy! Shopping, parties, dinners, work, and running around all month long to get everything perfect for Christmas day. It can feel very overwhelming at times. This year has been rather calm for me with the help of these four tips:

1. Do something small each day. As soon as December hit I was ready to deck the halls. But the thought of buying new decoration for the apartment, decorating the house and the tree quickly deflated me. Instead, I did a little decorating each day. I went to the store on a few occasions to find the perfect decorations, would come home, set them aside, and the next day I would decorate. Same goes for wrapping presents. I didn't want to wait until the last minute, so I have been wrapping a few presents each night. This tip has really helped me relax and not do too much all at once.

2. Set a budget for gifts. This Saturday some friends and I are having a Yankee swap party. It's a great way to get everyone together and not spend a lot of money. Our budget is $20 and I am pretty excited to give my gift. I would love to buy gifts for everyone, but I just can't afford it and neither can my friends. Being young 20-somethings. we aren't made of money, ya know. For close friends, I gave myself a $10 budget, which is a good price especially with all the holiday deals going on. The holidays should not stress you out about money. Even homemade cards are wonderful gifts to send loved ones.

3. Start shopping early. This tip may be coming a bit late, but there's always next year. Along with setting a budget, start your holiday shopping early. I started before Black Friday, which I avoid at all costs, and now I only have two people left to shop for. It's a nice feeling knowing I am almost done and it's only December 11th. It also helps to budget better. Shopping for a few people each week is a great way to watch your spending and find the perfect gift, as opposed to trying to do last minute shopping. Plus, we all know the stores are crazier the closer it gets to the holiday. No thank you.

4. Don't spread yourself too thin. There are going to be parties every weekend from now until Christmas, and even after that with the New Year. repeat with me. It's okay to say no. Prioritize time for people you may not get to see as often, and don't be afraid to say no. This goes the same for people who are hosting parties. Remember, people are there to see one another, you don't have to go overboard on food. Don't be afraid to hold a pot luck style party. Guests understand how hectic the holidays can be and, are more often than not, very willing to bring a dish to pass.Enjoy the good company.

Tied Together with String

I have always loved wrapping paper. I think the wrap should be just as beautiful as what's inside of it. I found this year's wrapping paper at, none other than, the dollar store. How cute is the plaid wrap!? As soon as I saw it, it was in my basket.  I saw on Instagram a picture of presents wrapped up with twine and pieces of a Christmas tree branch, which inspired this year's idea. I loved the idea and really love they way everything turned out.

Our First Tree

My boyfriend and I have been living together since August. It has been so fun to come home from work after a long day and cook dinner together, watch a movie or play Scrabble, and just spend time with one another. He has let me take the reins when it comes to decorating, and I don't mind when he watches football Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
I was so excited to get a real tree for Christmas this year. Our first tree at our first apartment together. I finally finished decorating it last night. We kept the decorations fairly simple with white lights and vibrant purple, pink and blue ornaments. For a tree topper, I used thick, gold ribbon to make a bow. (It needs some work so it's not fully pictured.)
Our apartment smells of balsam and I love it. I'm really looking forward to waking up Christmas morning and exchanging gifts before hurrying off to see friends and family throughout the day.

Gifting the Hostess with the Mostest

The holiday season brings lots of great holiday parties. Traditionally, guests bring a bottle of wine for the host or hostess. This is a great gift, but by the end of the night it's usually gone. I like the idea of giving a gift specifically for the hostess. All of the gifting ideas I found are under $35. Most of these ideas are things many people may not buy for themselves, such as fancy coasters or fun paper straws, which makes them even better gifts.

6. Paper Straws {$8}

Holiday Scents

Candles are one of my favorite things! I love coordinating scents with the seasons. The holidays offer some of my favorite candles, such as balsam and cranberry. Here are some of my favorite candles to light around Christmastime.

1. Spiced Apple Toddy.  This scent is a new favorite. The ingredients include apple brandy and spiced plum for a vibrant holiday smell.
2. Fresh Balsam. Of course. I love the smell of Christmas trees! I cannot wait to get a tree so the smell can take over the whole apartment.
3. Sparkling Snow. This is a new scent I just picked up last week. It's the perfect combination of "icy pear, frozen melon, and frosted musk." It's a bit on the sweeter side.
4. Frosted Cranberry. The sweet, fruity smell of cranberries, peaches, and red raspberries is amazing. It sounds a bit summery, but the cranberries really shine through.
5. Vanilla Bean Noel. I am not big on food smells, especially when they are very sweet, but this vanilla candle is just enough without going overboard.

My Long Holiday Weekend

 {Cozy corner of the cottage full of ski photos}

{Beautiful table setting}

 {The ceiling at Shea's Theater}

I had a wonderful long weekend with my family. Thursday was spent at my Aunt & Uncle's cottage in the woods laughing and eating delicious food. Friday I had the day off and it was so nice to relax, watch movies and make a few homemade Christmas cards. Saturday was spent at my dad's where we decorated the tree. Yesterday, my mom and I spent the afternoon at the theater for The Nutcracker Ballet. It was so beautiful. The costumes, the dancing and the music were mesmerizing. It was the perfect weekend. There is so much to be thankful for.

Happy Little Workspace

I love my job. I love being able to let my creative juices flow and the people I work with are amazing. However, there are times when the thought of sitting at my desk for 8-9 hours is a bit depressing. I do often get up to walk around and chit chat while at work, but for the most part I am at my desk. Recently, a co-worker inspired me to create a theme for my desk, and I have been having so much fun thinking about little decorations and what colors I want to incorporate. So far, I added two little succulents to my desk and it has already brightened up the space. Gold, white and a pop of mint green are going to be my colors. Gold and white were a given, but I wanted a fun color to add in the mix. I want my desk to be a productive area, as well as my happy place, so the items I use to decorate will be duel purpose. For example, a gold tray that holds a box of tissues, Post-Its, and a bowl of paperclips and rubber bands. I do want to have a few items to make the space mine, such as a gold art print, a jar full of my favorite candies, and a framed pictures of my friends and family.

This little project already has me excited to be at my desk more. I also have plans on decorating for the Holidays in a few weeks!

AMAs Best Dressed

Okay, so I am a few days behind, but I love a good red carpet look. Here are my four favorite looks from the American Music Awards that took place on Sunday.

Zendaya in Emanuel Ungara.
Zendaya looks so ladylike in this all pink ensemble. I love the frilly top and the sleek, straight hair.

Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad.
The touch of floral on this white gown makes the look. Florals can easily go wrong, but Nina makes it look oh-so-right. The black and white strappy heels bring a bit of  edge and drama to the look.

Carrie Underwood in Elie Madi.
I mean, we already know Carrie Underwood is Superwoman, but this sparkly cape is a good reminder.

Gigi Hadid in Bao Tranchi.
I love the skirt in this outfit. The top is not my favorite. I am still amazed by her hair! I cannot believe it's a wig! I definitely thought she chopped her hair off.
