The Oscars: Best & Worst Dressed

I was a bit disappointed by some of the looks I saw on the Oscars red carpet last night. Anne Hathaway was the biggest disappointment in my book. I was expecting a lot from her, since we all were expecting her to win. Congrats on the win, however you lost the best dressed battle. Jodie Foster was another look I was rather upset to see. While her dress was eco-friendly and designed by H&M (which is amazing publicity, by the way), it looked cheap and the wrinkles are just not red carpet approved. Normally, I like Kristen Stewart's edgier, laid back looks, this one was just a hot mess. The Reem Acra dress looked as though it was about to fall off of her, and I don't even know what is going on at the bottom of the dress. Not a good look Stewart.

Luckily, there were some diamonds in the ruff. My personal favorite of the night was Amanda Seyfried. She looked stunning in Alexander McQueen. The color and gold embellishments compliment her ivory skin tone. I love the keyhole in the neckline. It was a subtle sexy touch that really made the dress unique. Another stunner was the beautiful Naomi Watts. The sparkly silver one shoulder Armani Prive gown showed off her great figure. She looked flawless. Lastly, Jennifer Lawrence also makes my best dressed list. This Dior Couture gown was just lovely. I adore the color and subtle pattern. Her minimal jewelry was perfect to keep the focus on the gown.

Who was on your best and worst dressed list?

Candy Land

The adorable Elle Fanning was featured on the cover of New York Magazine. Her amazing photo spread was coated in frosting and sprinkles. The cover of the NY Mag is what initially caught my eye. The photo of Elle with cupcakes and frosted flowers is a modern and sweet twist on the classic portrait of "The Girl with the Pearl Earring." Little did I know the images that laid within the pages of the NY mag, would soon become my favorite spread to date. This is more than an editorial spread, this is art. Art in the form of piping and electric blue sprinkles.

What are your thoughts on the photos?

DIY Valentine's Day Cards

Over the weekend, I was invited to a lovely Valentine's Day card making party hosted by a new friend of mine, Lucy. I meet her through my cousin and she is such a doll. Not only that, but she has an eye for everything from fashion to flower arrangements. Check out her amazing blog, Across the Sound, to see what I'm talking about.
For about three hours, eight girls were gathered around a table covered in glitter, pink paper with little hearts, stickers, twine, and any other craft material you can think of. It was every crafter's dream. I made a handful of cute cards for my family and friends. Valentine's Day isn't just about spending time with a significant other, it is also about showing love for everyone in your life. So, even if you don't have someone special to spend the day with, think about who you do have. Maybe you and some other single friends could rent a movie and enjoy a great night in with sweet treats and good company.

I hope these cards inspired you to create something special for your loved ones.
What will you be doing this Valentine's Day?

Today, the Prabal Gurung for Target collection hits Target stores nationwide. This collection is sweet, flirty, and colorful. I sincerely love everything about this collection. I think it is perfect for Spring. The yellows and bright blues remind me of sunny spring days and makes me so anxious for warmer weather. The yellow, green, and white print features a kaleidoscope-esque image of lilies and orchids.  I adore that print so much, I had to purchase the sleeveless blouse. It will look great with a dark pair of skinnies or a black pair of skinny pants for a more dressy look. I also purchased the blue ruffle blouse. I love the girliness of the ruffles and the blue and black contrast. I would pair this with dark blue skinnies, but image this top with a  bright pair of floral pants. Now that would be the perfect outfit.
What do you think of the Prabal Gurung collection? How would you style these bright prints?

NYFW: Kate Spade Fall/Winter 2013

There are no words to express how in love I am with the Kate Spade Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The bright pinks and leopards and metallics-- I just can't get enough! I love how fun patterns and more sophisticated textures are all mixed together, yet as a whole, the collection is still cohesive. While black and white pieces seem to be a staple in the Fall/Winter 2013 shows, I love how Kate Spade adds pops of color like no other designer that I have seen has done thus far. Many designers are incorporating purples and reds, but Kate Spade takes the cake with hot pinks. While runway shows are fabulous, I was very pleased to see the Kate Spade show as a presentation. A presentation really allows the viewer to see all of the details in each piece. Plus, there was an old school taxi in the showroom! Amazing! I am obsessed with everything from this collection, but my favorite outfit is the donut sweater paired with black and white polka dot pants. Give me now, please! The bright yellow taxi clutch is definitely on my wishlist as well.

What do you think of this collection? What are your favorite pieces?

NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff F/W2013

Today, Rebecca Minkoff debuted her Fall/Winter 2013 collection. I have always been a fan of RM bags, but after seeing the runway show, I have a new found love for her clothing designs as well. The collection offered a lot of color and great prints. I am already so inspired by her collection for the fall, especially while sitting indoors watching snow come down for hours on end.

What do you think of the Rebecca Minkoff Fall/Winter 2013 collection?

Fashion Week Necessities

Fashion Week Necessities

NYFW is upon us. Here are some items you should be sure to throw in your bag to ensure a smooth and successful week!
It all starts with the right bag. You want something large enough to hold your essentials, but not so big you throw out your shoulder. Try to aim for a structured bag so that even when filled to capacity, your bag doesn't look bulky and sloppy. That is not a good look. Extra bobby pins and hair ties are a must especially with this windy, snowy weather we are having here in the city. One little bobby pin and fix a huge hair problem. Bandaids are essential. Running from show to show will give any girl a blister, sometimes even in the best shoes. Paper cuts could arise as well. You never know, it's always better to be over prepared than under. A camera (or iPhone) is a no brainer. Depending on your outfit, red lipstick is handy to have at the ready for a little touch up for a bold look. You want to look polished, of course, but that doesn't mean you have to strut around in 5 inch heels. Booties are my go to shoe. They are more supportive and comfortable, and with this weather, definitely warmer. Last, but not least, and possibly the most important item to have in your bag for Fashion Week, are your business cards. You never know who you might meet and what opportunities could arise, but how will you be remembered if you can't give someone a business card. You might just get one in return!
Hope these little pointers helped you out! Good luck this week, and stay warm!

I am a football fan, but when it comes to the Superbowl I am a commercial fan. This year I was not to blown away by the ads, but there were a few I enjoyed.
