View from Above

I flew back to NYC on Sunday and it was a beautiful day to be in the air. It was all blue skies with just a few clouds scattered here and there. Landing at LaGuardia Airport has to be my favorite part about flying. When preparing to land, the pilot has to circle the island of Manhattan and you get to see the city from a whole another perspective. It is breathtaking.

Anchors Away

Anchors Away

I have been seeing quite a bit of the Nautical theme in stores for Spring. The Gap and J.Crew are especially embracing this trend. I stopped in Gap the other day and an entire wall was devoted to the Nautical trend. I have always loved stripes so this trend will be easy for me to accomplish. My style motto is simple is best. A stripped top with a red bubble necklace, jeans, and loafers is my ideal interpretation of this trend. For a business woman, A stripped skirt with a cardigan or blazer is very office appropriate. How will you style the Nautical trend? Here are a few pieces in my wardrobe that are inspiring me.

The Carrie Diaries

After watching the first two episodes of the new CW show, The Carrie Diaries, it is safe to say I am hooked. I may be turning 24 in less than two months, but I am still a sucker for a good teen drama. Especially if it takes place in my beloved city... and is set in the 80s! Bonus! AnnaSophia Robb does  great job of portraying a teenage Carrie Bradshaw from her frizzy curls to her fun and funky outfits. The Carrie Diaries is definitely my new Monday night show, especially since Gossip Girl is over (tear), and I love any show that takes place in NYC! I might be slightly biased. ;)

Here is a fun, funky, and bright outfit inspired by the new hit show! Have you seen the show? What do you think?

StreetStyle

StreetStyle

When I think NYC street style, skinny leather leggings, a slouchy sweatshirt, converse, shades, and layers, layers, layers, comes to mind. Shades are a necessity, just as an everyday backpack is to hold everything and the kitchen sink (pardon the cliche-but ask any New Yorker- a big bag is a must), and an extra canvas bag to hold groceries and other odds-n-ends. I'm thinking a fun pink, or maybe just a black pair of converse will be the next addition to my wardrobe to recreate this NYC street style look.

Billions of Baubles

While I don't have billions of baubles, I do own my fair share of necklaces. Some girls love shoes or bags, I am a necklace junkie. I love a necklace that makes a statement and starts a conversation. After the holidays, I headed out to the stores in hopes of finding some great pieces to add to my jewelry collection for a steal. I hit the jackpot at Kohl's, and even found a beautiful and simple necklace from American Eagle.

Sweater Weather

This past weekend was unseasonably warm. It reached 64 on Sunday! I was wonderful not having to bundle up. I spent a majority of the weekend in this sweater from Target. It is from the Target and Neiman Marcus Collection and was designed by Proenza Schouler. I just love it, and it was only nine dollars! Talk about a deal! The design on the sweater is pretty funky, but that is what drew me to it. The lines and colors remind me of one of my favorite artists, Jackson Pollock. Not only is this piece art deco, it's also so comfy and versatile. I can't wait to dress it up a bit with a skirt and some jewels!

Half Moon Mani

I have a feeling the Half Moon Mani is going to be my new go-to nail polish trend. I love combining colors and ending up with fun nail art. I picked up these two beautiful colors, Brownette (copper) and Army of 1 (green), from Ulta the other day and immediately knew I was going to try the Half Moon Mani. In order to achieve this look, I did not use any tools, just freehand. I did find a great tutorial on how to get this nail look using reinforcement binder stickers here. I will probably use this technique next time to save on time. I'd love to see your interpretation of this trend!

Earth Tones

I love the earthiness of this top. The colors and patterns remind me of pebbles you would find in a stream. It seems to be warming up a bit, so I wore my army green wind breaker which went perfectly with my earth tone theme. I even ventured to a nearby state park to capture a bit of snow covered nature.

Bundled Up

Staying true to my 2013 resolutions, here is an outfit of the day post! I found this fun faux fur infinity scarf on super sale at Kohl's. I originally wanted it in black, but when they were all out, I thought why not get a fun color? It keeps me so toasty, which has been very helpful with the chilly weather.

Miss Wu

The amazlingly talented Jason Wu has created a new line exclusively for Nordstrom. The collection is appropriately named Miss Wu. The collection is fun and flirty with a mix of modern and 60s inspired style.  This collection captures Jason Wu's eye for color and patterns for much less than the price of his designer collection.  Here are a few of my favorite looks. I adore the stripped sweater below and the entire look featuring the purple and red geometric blouse.

What do you think of Miss Wu?

Polished

Zoya Nail Polish

My all-time favorite nail polish company, Zoya, is having an amazing promotion!Around this time last year, they had a special offer-- get 2 polishes for free, just pay shipping. This year they are stepping it up a notch. You can get THREE polishes for free, you just have to pay $10 for shipping! This company gets better each year! Zoya has every color under the sun and then some. I have about ten polishes in my wishlist. It is going to be a tough decision picking only three. Zoya polish is hands down the best polish I have ever used. The colors are amazing and the website makes choosing your nail polish so easy. They give you all the information you need and more. For more information about their promotion, which starts tomorrow, and products check out their blog. Happy shopping! Let me know what colors you decide on!

Back to Beige

During the winter, especially on the streets of Manhattan, black can be seen in every style and shape. While I own my fair share of black, I have noticed myself reaching for more neutral and beige tones. I recently picked up a beige tweed skirt and a beige sweater. The shades are just different enough that I am looking forward to pairing them together. Here are a few more looks I created using neutrals, beiges, and a hint of gold.

Do you like beige or does black just suit you better?
